MJ Hyland: Once a year there’ll be a day known as “Throw the bad me away day”, and people will play the part of a better version of themselves. They’ll choose a selfish, 1)destructive or just plain dumb aspect of their character, and they’ll wear a piece of clothing they’d not usually wear that day—a hat, wig, scarf, mustache—and this costume will help them inhabit a better self.
Paul has a habit of ignoring his children. On “Bad me day” he’ll wear a pair of Mickey Mouse socks, take his kids to the zoo, and act like a man who adores his children.
Rhonda’s a 2)tightwad and never gives to charity. On the “Bad me day” she’ll wear an orange scarf and take all her old clothes to a charity shop.
John doesn’t see his old father very often. He’ll wear a novelty watch, and when he meets his father in the café, he’ll ask his father to tell stories, even the ones about the war.
Sam watches way too much crap TV. She’ll wear a pair of slippers, maybe the ones Rhonda gave to 3)OXFAM, and she won’t watch any TV on that day.
Jessie will go out in a floppy hat, and quit being rude to the Indian family who run her 4)corner shop.
