Ice Bar in Quebec
Quebec is very French, and very 1)classy, and very near to one of travel’s great 2)wonders: The Ice Hotel. It takes 400 tons of ice and 12,000 tons of snow each year to create the Ice Hotel, a fairy tale palace of white.
It’s very quiet here. The ice walls are covered with brightly colored art work. And dramatic ice 3)sculptures light the way to an 4)Absolut Vodka bar, where the glasses and the bar itself are pure ice.
Imagine sleeping here in this magic setting. Imagine decorative fireplaces and hot tubs beneath the stars. Sleeping here? Sure, it’s cold. But you won’t notice it, covered in furs and blankets, and at least the bathroom’s heated. What a terrific winter vacation, something to truly 5)brag about. You can ice skate, go dog-6)sledding, or try ice fishing. There are two outdoor hot tubs and a 7)sauna, so remember to pack your bathing suit. It all melts away on April Fool’s Day.

The Mammut Snow Hotel in Kemi, Finland, is not an ice hotel 11)per sé as it is entirely made of snow. Most of its 12)furnishings and decorations, such as the ice sculptures, are made of ice. It is located within the walls of the snow castle of Kemi, which is the largest snow castle in the world. It includes the Mammut Snow Hotel, the castle 13)courtyard, the snow restaurant, and also a wedding chapel.
The temperature in the hotel rooms is approximately minus 5 degrees but guests are ensured a good night’s sleep with special warm sleeping bags.
The Lonely Planet has named the Mammut Snow Hotel as one of the most 14)eccentric places to stay in the world in their 2007 Best in Travel Guide.
