近代欧洲的一些经典作家,如雨果、歌德、托尔斯泰等,都非常推崇中国文化。歌德就曾讲过这样一个中国故事:“有一对钟情的男女在长期相处中很贞洁自持,有一次他俩不得不在同一间房里过夜,就谈了一夜的话,谁也不惹谁……”他说的故事虽然比较简单,情节也有点变异,但我们读采仍感到十分亲切,这与春秋时代柳下惠“坐怀不乱”有关。柳下惠“坐怀不乱”的故事作为历史美谈,后被用采泛指心地纯洁的人在男女关系方面正大光明。歌德对这个故事十分赞赏并予以高度评价。他说:“在他们那里一切都比我们这里更明
