Starting from November 2011 to August 2012, books sales online in Amazon Chinese Bookstore has reached over 140,000. The corporation is making great efforts to expand the sales online and plans to sell over 500,000 copies in 3 years and keep expanding sales from now on.
Amazon Chinese Bookstore is an important part of Publications Overseas Copyright Output Channel Expansion Project of the General Administration of Press and Publication. It was opened in cooperation with on of the biggest trade company, the China International Book Trading Group Limited and the global electronic commerce leader America Amazon. The latter one opened up a “Chinese Bookstore” in the Book Channel on the homepage of its website to sell Chinese books specially.
According to the introduction, Amazon’s Books Channel just has 7 bookstores currently, and the Chinese Bookstore is the only theme bookstore named after a country and also the only one in the history of Amazon’s website.
Online books contain Chinese editions and English editions published domestically, French editions, German editions are the same care. In order to make readers know the books as soon as possible, the corporation has got translated. The 140,000 kinds of books are issued by over 300 domestic presses. Most of the books were published in last two years, and Amazon also selected some Chinese best sellers.
The Amazon Chinese Bookstore has explored a new way and opened a new channel for the global communication that loves Chinese culture and publications. Currently, Amazon Chinese Bookstore is mainly for the readers in Northern America, and sales of the books is better and better. The best monthly sales hit over 700 thousand dollars.
To guarantee to meet demand supplies, China International Book Trading Group has established joint conference system for Amazon Chinese Bookstore Project with main domestic publishing enterprises. These presses are all well-known at home and abroad, and the quality and export quantity of their publications are relatively high.
