学化学的人,都知道触媒是极复杂的东西,虽然今天的工业上很多地方都用触媒,但是许多问题我们到今天还是弄不清楚,就连为什么会有接触作用,以及触媒表面究竟是什么样子,这样的问题,都还没有肯定的答案。根据许多研究,我们晓得:接触反应是在触媒表面进行的,但并不是触媒表面上所有地方都有接触作用的。只有极少数的活性点,反应只有在活性点上能进行,这叫做活性中心Acitive Centre,当有极少量的毒素存在时,只要它们的数量足以和活性中心的地方起了作用,破坏了牠,触媒就中毒了,即不再有接触能力。
