Tea tree has always been considered a calcium-insensitive plant, mainly because it is relatively acidic in acidic soil growth, and poor growth in near-neutral soil. There have been some surveys to study Ca movement in tea plants and the effect of Ca on the availability of other nutrients, especially N and K. These surveys, as well as studies of root cation exchange capacity (CEC), show that the tea tree is an intermediate plant between monocotyledons and dicotyledons in terms of its metabolic habits; in moderate amounts of Ca-containing soil , N and K’s
