美术的发展虽有本身的逻辑,也与社会环境的变迁息息相关,尤其受到政治情境和经济状况的制约,台湾的美术发展亦不例外。雕塑在过去,是台湾美术项目中较弱的一环,其发展也一直未受到应有的注意。究其原因,不外是观感中的雕塑往往只是伟大人物塑像之类的工作而已,难与旨趣宏高的绘画相提并论。然而随着时代步伐的进程,雕塑在台湾已跃升上艺术舞台,并成为诸多美术项目中的显学,近年来的发展备受关注。战后台湾雕塑的发展因文化环境的转换大致可分为几个阶段。
Although the development of fine arts has its own logic, it is also closely linked to changes in the social environment. In particular, it is constrained by political situations and economic conditions. The development of fine arts in Taiwan is no exception. In the past, sculptures were the weakest link in the art project in Taiwan, and their development has not received the attention they deserved. The reason is nothing more than the impression that the sculptures are often just works of the great figures and the like, which is hardly comparable to the ambitious painting. However, with the progress of the times, sculpture has jumped onto the stage of the arts in Taiwan and has become a significant learning project in many art projects. The development in recent years has drawn much attention. After the war, the development of Taiwan sculpture can be roughly divided into several stages due to the change of cultural environment.
