Watercolors, in our country, are a favorite of the general public, but objectively speaking, watercolors are still a relatively unknown type of paintings in China. Only because of its so-called “exotic” concept of bondage. In fact, in China, Xiushui painting has a long history and fine traditions. With fine brush writing on paper, China is much earlier than Europe. Many Western watercolor artists are influenced by Chinese literati paintings (that is, freehand brushwork) to varying degrees. Chinese watercolor has unique conditions. The language features of watercolor are also suitable for the expressiveness of Chinese traditional painting concepts. To promote watercolor painting, we should base ourselves on China’s fine tradition and attach importance to the national character of watercolor creation.
