Translation is increasingly seen as a communication between the source language and the culture carried by the target language, and the effect of such intercultural communication is particularly affected by differences between cultures, so how to deal with this properly in translation One of the focuses of translation studies is the difference between species. The theory of textual function by the British translation theorist Peter Newmark provided a solution. The theory indicates that translation strategies should be chosen according to their different status in different text types according to cultural differences. Specifically in the expression of functional texts, semantic translation (this article boils down to alienation translation strategy) should dominate. By analyzing the English translation of cultural differences in Strange Tales from a Lonely Studio, this article verifies the feasibility of text type theory in the translation of functional texts and concludes four principles of choosing translation strategies.
