The ignition threshold of the Nd:YAG laser beam irradiated by a thin sheet of metal was experimentally studied, and then the energetic material immediately behind it was irradiated. The process and mechanism of laser ignition of energetic materials were analyzed, and the influence of laser spot size and laser incident angle on ignition was discussed
