皇草是由象草和美洲狼尾草杂交育成的高产优质禾本科牧草,国外已应用在生产上代替传统栽培的象草,1987年引入我所试种并对其特征特性进行研究。3年多的研究结果表明,皇草的产草量比象草高4.7—33％,粗蛋白含量高9.3—24％,纯蛋白质含量高10.12—21.68％,茎糖锤度高8.3％,氨基酸组成较平衡,皇草叶片宽阔、柔软,茎脆嫩,家畜适口性比象草好。能适应我省各地的气候条件和土质栽培,作为养牛、养鱼的饲料有广阔的应用前景。 Kingfisher is a high-yielding and high-quality gramineous pasture which was bred from the grass weed and the American pennisetum.
