In 1927, Hitler and London used quantum mechanics to deal with hydrogen molecular structure and then put forward the theory of covalent bonds. Since then, people have begun to introduce the concept of electronegativity in order to be able to quantify the size of atoms in a covalently bonded molecule that attract bonds. The atoms of an element are in the compound molecule and attracting electrons to their own ability is called the electronegativity of the element.
