First, much, many can be used as adjectives to modify uncountable nouns and countable nouns, respectively. As much/many+noun+as basically means “as many as...” For example: We’ll give you as much help as we can. We will try to help you. We have as many students as wc had last term. Our current number of students is as much as the previous semester. 2. In English, the words that express quantity are preceded by as much/many as, which means “up to as much as possible.” The sentence in Lesson 58 above is followed by countable calories.
