Did you just so happen to be wondering what Harry Potter and his BFFs have been up to lately? Well, wonder no more because J.K. Rowling released a new short story about HP as a grown-up. Like, in his 30s with some gray hair and a family. The gang’s all back at the Quidditch World Cup (go figure) and we get some shocking details about how much their lives have changed since Deathly Hallows.
The story is written in gossip-column style by Rita Skeeter—you know, the witch journalist who basically wrote totally false information while she worked for the Daily Prophet[预言者]. Being the troublesome person she is, she gives us a whole lot of dirt[流言蜚语] on our favorite characters, including how much they’ve aged. Just take a look: Harry is still wearing his signature[(比喻)标志性] round glasses and he’s picked up a “nasty[令人不快的] cut” on his right cheek. As for Ron and Hermione? They’re happily married (Ron’s apparently[显然地] starting to go bald[秃头的]), and they have two kids, Hugo and Rose. Also, Hermione is still a total beast and is doing her thing as the Deputy[副……长] Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Basically, she’s equally as successful as her real-life counterpart[相对物], Emma Watson.
Obviously there’s a lot of cool stuff going on in this story, and any fan of the books (and movies!) is going to love being back in the world of magic. Harry & Co. registered[已注册的] users can read the story on J.K.’s website Pottermore, but enjoy it while it lasts—word on the street is she doesn’t plan on writing any more about their adult lives.
Last fall, we received the best news since July 21st of 2007—the day Deathly Hallows, the final installment[部分] of Harry Potter, was published. We got word that J.K. Rowling would be adapting[改编] Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, her Hogwarts-inspired screenplay[剧本], for the big screen—her very first new work in almost a decade.
Now we bring you the best news since then. Not only is Fantastic Beasts going to get the movie treatment, but it’ll be a trilogy[三部曲]. That’s right—not one, but three fantastical films that’ll please dedicated[专注的] Potterheads and new fans alike.
While the story exists in the same wizarding world as J.K.’s bestselling series[系列], this spinoff[副产品]—about the adventures of magizoologist Newt Scamander—takes place decades before Harry and his friends were born. In other words, don’t get your hopes up for an Emma Watson appearance.
和J.K.
