1.The Nature of English for Specific Purpose
The English for Specific Purpose, which isshort for ESP (Fan Yi, 1995:1), is correlativeto some kinds of specific vocation and subject.There are two obvious characteristics. Oneis that learners should be required to achievethe aim in control of English in this subject soas to satisfy the demand of specific vocation;the other is to own the special context, in otherwords, learners should study the context inspecialization. It is reported that now it is theworld in English communication and ESPas the intermediate takes on 80% of Englishcommunication.
