丰田汽车公司提出了以“循环+生物”满足汽车塑料20%的目标。为了实现这一只标,正在持续扩大生物塑料的使用量。复印机和复合机领域生物墨粉已经实用化,技术开发竞争激烈。2009年12月7日,丰田汽车公司开始销售新款混合型轿车“SAI”。虽然该公司2003年上市的雷蒙(Raum)和2009年上市的新款普锐斯(Prius)的车轮毂、司机座位的坐垫等都是生物塑料做的。但是,SAI车内总面积约60%是用生物塑料制作的。当然作为批量生产的汽车,这是世界上汽车使用生物塑料量最大的产品。
