He Wishes for the Cloths of Heaven was written by the Irish poet William Butler Yeats and conveys the poet’s sincerelove to the woman he cherished lifelong.The research makes a comparative study of four Chinese versions from perspective of texttype theory in German functional school.It analyzes the intended text function,the stylistic features and the aesthetic value of thesource text and compares the four Chinese versions based on Reiss’s intralinguistic criteria.It concludes that the four versionshave different merits in transmitting aesthetic forms of the source text and should be evaluated critically.
